MIRRORS AND MIRAGES
When the artist faces a blank canvas, she faces herself. It is when the creator pours her most intimate feelings into this blank space that becomes the mirror of her soul, of her essence. Sometimes it happens that this reflection, with which the canvas is impregnated, is rather a mirage, a desire, a denunciation or a cry for freedom with which the artist manages to convey the essence of her message.
LAURA INIESTA
Laura Iniesta was born in Barcelona (Spain) in 1955 and from a very young age she felt captivated by the world of Art, doing her Art studies and her first exhibitions in this city.
Her restlessness and curiosity have led her to live in Colombia and Ecuador and to exhibit in museums and galleries around the world.
Her Mediterranean temperament makes her return to her homeland, where she currently lives and works.
Laura Iniesta's work is a material, gestural creation of great strength and energy. Her artworks have the ability to move the viewer, whom she does not leave indifferent.
Among her most emblematic works are the three murals created for CEIBS (China Europe International Business School) in Shanghai, China, in the beautiful buildings designed by the Chinese-American architect, Pritzker Architecture Prize winner, Ieoh Ming Pei.
She tells us about the great experience it was to work on these large murals (11x14m each) in China and the emotion that came from encountering such a different culture, but which at the same time has so much in common with her work: the colors, the lines. and the conception of space.
”It was encountering a culture that was very close in terms of certain concepts and at the same time so far away in the distance. Deep down we are all made of the same stardust, the essence is the same” says Laura.
Currently she continues to work and exhibit in numerous galleries and museums and her work is highly appreciated by collectors around the world.
