Abstraction
ABOUT this artwork:
In this new series that is exhibited at the Tangram Gallery from May 10 to 31, I try to express the awareness of the unity between emptiness and form through the combination of flat surfaces with more textured ones.
Black suggests depth, the unknown, emptiness, origin. The forms burst into it, generating a new structure, a new relationship and rhythm that in turn will be modified by other forms and so on to infinity; but at the same time they are the same void.
In the same way that musical notes cannot exist without the silences that sustain them, we cannot separate forms from the void that inhabits them, whether they are objects, animated beings or galaxies
About Mireia Cifuentes
Life and death understood as a process that leads us to become more aware of ourselves, of what we truly are beyond our small person, are recurring themes in my work. Beyond what we perceive with the physical senses there is something that encompasses us and transcends us at the same time, that silent and inexpressible mystery but latent and evident in the eyes of the soul is the driving force of my painting.Mireia Cifuentes was born in La Seu d’Urgell (province of Lleida, Spain). During her extensive travels across Europe and Asia, she discovered and developed her passion for art. In 1992, she settled in Barcelona to devote herself exclusively to painting. She considers herself to be a self-taught painter, although she has been supported by several wellknown painters and artists. My curiosity in experimenting with different techniques and materials has led me through a long process from figuration to abstraction. I currently experience the fusion of both trends. Her work has been exhibited in art galleries an contemporary art fairs in Spain and several countries in Europe.
