About Anet Duncan Byng
As in the Lewis Carroll poem, my hair has become very White and I “continue to stand on my head.” Creating and playing with materials within reach keep me alive.Working in textiles and directing a screen printing company when I was young in the Hades of sub-tropical Durban was a stimulating challenge. Painting and printing are in my DNA and over time, through absorbing new idioms and customs, my works have been consequently influenced. One exhibition was called “Stranger in a Strange Land”. On arriving in a new country one is verbally silenced until one can speak the tongue so I resorted to the universal language of art. Exhibitions in prestigious galleries of course add adrenalin to one’s painting energy. Works have found themselves round the world and Galleries like Pontarte in the Netherlands certainly help in this aspect. There is a piece of me in the form of an artwork somewhere on most continents. Anet Duncan
