PERICO PASTOR was born in Seo de Urgel in 1953. After a few years in Barcelona, studying things that had nothing to do with art and that he never finished because he was always drawing, he moved to New York in 1976. There, he spent twelve years in a comfortable and fun bohemian lifestyle funded by his work as an illustrator for the New York Times and other publications. This allowed him to continue with his passion, and over time, his work attracted enough attention from several galleries to make a living from it – without ever giving up illustration.In 1980, he exhibited for the first time at the Cornelia Street Café in New York, and in 1983, he had his first gallery exhibition at Estampa in Madrid. Since then, he has balanced illustration and painting, showcasing his work in Barcelona, Madrid, Granada, Hong Kong, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Sag Harbor, Miami, Beijing, Lleida, and more.Since 1989, he has been living in Barcelona, fully dedicated to painting, press illustration (El País, International Herald Tribune, El Periódico, La Vanguardia), editorial illustration (Amigos, El Pequeño Cuento, La Bíblia, Llibre de les Bésties), and various projects.Married with four children, Perico is an enthusiast of rowing and skiing, enjoys reading and music, and is also an acceptable cook.
